Press Release from our recent AGM:

Hastings and Rother Rainbow Alliance held a successful AGM at Azur on Friday 9th November and elected a new diverse Committee. Councillor Bruce Dowling, Deputy Mayor of Hastings, welcomed everyone saying how pleased he was to support HRRA. Over 50 members attended and Chair Dave Burke thanked HBC for their support and outlined the year’s achievements which included the launch of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender History Project, and the establishment of the new Trans group. There was a lively discussion on priorities for the future including work on anti homophobic bullying, support for youth groups and social and fundraising activities. The business meeting was followed by a buffet, raffle, disco and enjoyable entertainment by the local band ‘Jiggery Pokery’, encouraging many people to take to the dance floor.

Newly appointed Co-Chair Julie Eason said Hastings & Rother Rainbow Alliance will mark our 10 year anniversary in 2013. The new committee will be building on the energy of the AGM to reflect on the improvements that have been achieved for the LGBT community locally and nationally over the last decade. We are looking to broaden our appeal further this year, and in particular to focus on supporting the younger members of our community so the next generation have a platform from which to be heard, and to shine. We are also planning a series of social events to bring the LGBT community, and our friends and supporters from the wider community together, to celebrate our history and to showcase the considerable creativity that is alive and thriving within our membership.”

HRRA welcomes new members and it is free to join. All LGBT welcome. For further info email or phone 07505 819344.
