Committee Members Details of the committee members of HRRA are detailed below (click on links to send a direct email): Dave (Acting Chair) is the part-time manager of Hastings and Rother Counselling Service which is a charity offering counselling to those on benefits and low income. He also works as a counsellor and Life Coach in London and Hastings.He was a counsellor with London Friend - an LGBT organisation and is a past Chair of Survivors UK the only national charity for male survivors of rape and childhood sexual abuse. Les was a founder member of the Rainbow Alliance and has recently retired after 25 years in the London Voluntary Sector as a Charity Manager. He has established numerous projects over the years and has worked on LGBT issues. Les was our chair until the end of March 2011. Ambrose was a founder member of the Rainbow Alliance and Chair in its early development, a Social worker in mental health practising in Hastings and Rother he has relevant qualifications. Ambrose has been involved in LGBT community projects and has been a representative for HRRA over the last few years. Nadine has been a social worker and manager in Children and Families Divison for the London Borough of Hackney for over 30 years. She now resides in Hastings and works as an independent social worker for East Sussex County Council. Mary (Secretary), who lives in Bexhill, has been secretary of HRRA since 2009. She has lengthy managerial experience in working for the voluntary sector in London and has been involved in the national LGB/LGBT groups for Citizens Advice Bureaux and Volunteer Centres. Julia grew up in St. Leonards. She started her career in computer programming, moving on to systems analysis and project management before becoming a management consultant, advising on the implementation of large computer systems and how to handle information effectively. She has worked for a variety of organisations including local authorities and charities. She is currently a board member of St. Michael’s Hospice. Ben (Treasurer) has been treasurer of HRRA since 2009. He is a Chartered Accountant with a local accountancy firm having qualified in 1998 and has lived in Hastings all of his life. Abi currently works as Equal Access Manager for the Library and Information Service in East Sussex with responsibility for equalities, diversity and outreach to minority communities. She has voluntary experience with Brighton Ourstory LGB History Centre and Brighton Allsorts LGBTU youth group. She has organised events, for example the inaugural LGBT history Month 2010 programme. Barbara has had 30 years experience working in education as a teacher and in the voluntary sector in London. She has coordinated intergenerational oral history projects, community action groups and a community newspaper. She has been active in HRRA since moving to live in Hastings in 2008, and organises the lesbian book club. Since 2010 she has helped the HRRA Committee with publicity and communications. Paul was a founder member of HRRA. He has for many years been the membership secretary/treasurer/social events organiser of the Hastings and Rother Gay and Lesbian Social Group, and more recently became treasurer of the Hastings and Rother Gay Helpline, the efforts of both of which organisations led to the formation of HRRA. |
