Rachael and Nadine have taken over organising duties for the supperclub events with an event being organised every couple of months. Events are advertised on the ‘What’s On’ Mailing and our Facebook page.
Julia previously organised our Supperclubs and the last event organised by Julia was lunch at St Clement’s Restaurant, 3 Mercatoria, St Leonards on Sea on Wed 15 May 2013. Julia stepped down from this role having organised these events for the last four years. We thank Julia for all her hard work in making these events so successful and enjoyable.
After our relaunch in 2010, we have held lunches and dinners in St Leonards, Hastings and Bexhill.
A superb lunch was enjoyed by 30 of us at Webbe’s, the Fish Cafe in Rye in September 2010. We had the upstairs restaurant to ourselves and the food was delicious. Most people indicated they would like to go there again.
On 15th November 2010, we went to Azur in St Leonards and enjoyed a yummy two course menu for £15. Some people took advantage of the fish and chips special which was under a tenner.
For Valentine’s day, we organised a cheap and cheerful evening at Ore Community Centre. It was a ‘bring your own’ do and quite a few enjoyed the nearby Chinese take-away. There was some excellent musical entertainment provided by HRRA members, a testing quiz and some after dinner dancing.
In April 2011 we had a delicious two course meal at Trattoria Italiana in Hastings. Most popular was the mini sirloin steak in cream and brandy. The manager, Michael, was most welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
At the end of May, we went to the Peking Garden in Little Common for an All-You- Can-Eat Chinese meal. We were seated at a huge table in the centre of the restaurant and enjoyed a choice of over 50 dishes. The food was delicious, the service pretty good considering the size of the party – we ate in three tranches, and a good time was had by one and all. They were as good as their word, offering extras every time a dish was emptied.
Christmas Bash 2011 was at Ore Community Centre on Friday 2nd December. Caribbean Curry, Chicken Casserole or Vegetarian Casserole for just £5.99 was on offer. Fancy dress was optional and a quiz was held.
Further events were held during 2012, 2013 and in 2014 and the event at the Wholesome Cafe in Bexhill was so popular that it was repeated.
