About Us

Hastings and Rother Rainbow Alliance is an organisation that is working to support the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBTQIA+) in Hastings and Rother.

Established in 2003, HRRA works to support the local LGBTQIA+ communities by:

– Providing a voice within the statutory and voluntary sector
– Looking at the social needs of our communities and working to develop social outlets
– Promoting training and information services
– Providing training where possible
– Informing services providers of the needs of LGBTQIA+ communities
– Holding events that will encourage active citizenship by LGBTQIA+ people
– Engaging in forums and meetings that will develop a greater understanding of the support needs of LGBTQIA+ communities
– Provide regular newsletters and information to members and others

 

The Objects of the Organisation are:

The charity’s objects (the objects), being primarily advanced in Hastings and Rother, are
1) the promotion of equality of treatment and diversity particularly in relation to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons for the benefit of the public by:
a) the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of gender or sexual orientation
b) advancing education and raising awareness in equality and diversity
c) promoting activities to foster understanding between people from diverse backgrounds
d) cultivating a sentiment in favour of equality and diversity
2) to relieve the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons in particular but not exclusively by:
a) offering information and support
b) acting as an advocate for the needs of such persons within decision making bodies
c) providing or assisting in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation with the object of improving their conditions of life.
